about

This web site is broadcast from my home office and base of operations for the certain recovery from my spinal cord injury.

I experienced an injury to my spinal cord around the cervical vertebrae 5 and 6 on November 19th, 2002 when the Ford Excursion I was driving lost its Firestone tire, left the road, and rolled. It was due to that event that my father first launched this site to aid in the fund-raising process required to support my recovery process.

I live in Carlsbad California and regularly attend intensive physical therapy at Project Walk. I work to stay creative on projects such as web design, writing, and collaborations among others.

At the end of my three and a half months stay at the hospital my brother, Ira Coulston, moved from his home in downtown San Diego to become my full-time live in care person. Since that time he has worked constantly without the boundaries of weekends and holidays to maintain my care in nearly every aspect. An artist, Ira paints and writes and continues to broaden his knowledge of our world at large. Often he can be found engaged in lively conversation about the socio-political climate of the day, or just relaxing in the evening air with a good book.

Good Life Rockstar - Heather

When I was first released from the hospital, emaciated, pale, intravenous tubing protruding from my arm, drenched with sweat resulting from malicious infection, and generally worn down, I made my way to Project Walk where I met Heather.

What an amusing encounter that was, in retrospect. We were both a little shocked, and timid... she, thinking that at any moment one of my limbs might come off in her hand, and I that this woman was actually asking me to do a sit-up!?

From that day on, ours has been a rich and wonderful friendship and Heather has continued to be one of the strongest and most driving supports in my recovery. Today, she works with me as a regular occupation or rather, joyful expedition, in the capacity of an assistant - though more akin to the relationship of Krishna (Hindu God) to Arjuna (Hindu hero) in the great battle of the Mahabharata, than any common personal assistant.

and so…

Needless to say, I find myself very blessed to be surrounded by these individuals and moving forward in this exciting and interesting process of recovery and discovery. Please explore this site to learn more about us, our friends, and our world.
